Collection One has two stories in one book so I’m going to tell you my thoughts and opinion on the stories. This is my first book review but I thought I would try my hand at it since I love to read.
DEMONS AND KITTENS
Catalina has her hands full with the crew of the black widow. Kidnapped to be the new teacher of the captain’s rowdy, troublesome twins by Striker, Catalina struggles with her role as the only feminine woman on the ship. Striker, whose family was killed by his older brother when he was a child, is running away from his past and happily living his life on the ship as the captain’s right hand man. Soon his past comes back to haunt him and Striker is forced to face it again, changing his whole world and the lives of his friends as well. Each chapter is told through the eyes of one of the characters in the story giving their own unique, bias sides of the story.
BOOK REVIEW:
When I read stories I tend to put myself in there as one of the characters so I can feel like I’m experiencing it. So I’m always the main girl in every book I read.
When I was reading Demons and Kittens, I wasn’t sure if Catalina and Striker were going to be a love interest or not. The way he teased her all the time it seemed more like a brother and sister relationship. But then I started noticing how embarrassed she got when he made fun of her.
I thought it was so sad in the beginning when Striker’s family gets killed and the ending was a big shocker when he realizes he really did resurrect his family. But I was so mad when Striker left Catalina without even saying goodbye after finding his family again. That was just mean and it made me want to kick his butt.
I was also laughing so hard when Striker was reading the letters and he thought Catalina was going to marry Degan. Then when Degan proposed to Catalina that was a big shocker too. At first when Degon’s telling Catalina how much Roos and Bella respect and admire her in their life and then it talks about him getting all sweaty, I thought he was going to die and wanted Catalina and the twins to make up with Striker so he could make sure they were in good hands. So when he proposed, I wasn’t expecting that but I was happy to find out she turned him down. Even if it waited until the end to reveal that she had.
I also thought that Degon wanted to go visit Striker so he could try to grab him for cash. Especially when they were in the meeting and he gets an evil smile on his face.
I wanted to yell at Catalina at times in the book when she took things the complete opposite way of what they were meant to be. Like with Roos’s flirtation with her and the way she was oblivious to why Striker told the workers that she was a lesbian.
My favorite part is when Striker is invisible to Catalina when she’s in the shower and she doesn’t know it. Also when he makes Catalina tell him out loud that she loves him. Then when he kissed her passionately and had an evil smile on his face, I thought that he was slowly going to turn into the real Zedolin and cause harm to everyone close to him.
All in all I thought it was a very good story with lots of twists. I wish the Author would have had Catalina put up a fight at the end when Striker asks to be back in her life or at least pretend like she was thinking about it for a hot minute. That would have been fun.
CARTER’S CURSE
Punished for his bad boy, selfish ways, Carter is cursed by a woman whose daughter he scammed and left heartbroken. Now in the body of a little boy, Carter struggles to find a cure for his curse and tries anything that might be a cure, even rotten mushrooms. His real trouble begins when he and his friends kidnap a young woman who is the reincarnation of an ancient queen. Carter’s friend Scott makes a bet with Carter that Carter couldn’t woo her in his childlike form and Carter, who can never turn down a bet, takes on the challenge. This simple bet lands Carter in even bigger trouble when Lola, the self-proclaimed mother superior on the ship, brings her little sister, Karena into the mix, a woman whom Carter has always been fond of.
BOOK REVIEW:
While I was reading Carter’s Curse I got attached to both Adeline and Karena who fight over Carter’s affections.
I felt so bad throughout the whole book because it seemed like no one wanted to be with Adeline or wanted her around and then King Larkin was upset when he found out Adeline was the Demon Queen.
When Adeline and Karena began to actually fight at the end man was it so intense and I can’t believe Adeline died.
When it got to the part where Scott was telling King Larkin about what Lord Draken said about getting the Demon Queen to him as soon as possible or she would go insane and then the King laughed, at that point I thought that Lord Draken was in on it and that they were going to drain Adeline of her power and use it as self-destruction.
I was also holding my breath in suspense when Scott kept messing around with King Larkin and not getting along with telling him who the Demon Queen was. But it was a big surprise when King Larkin wanted Karena as his wife and Carter was ready to fight him.
All in all I thought it was a very good book and I was glad at the end when Karena chose Carter over King Larkin and then he proposed to her. It’s as if he was hoping somehow she would change her mind. I would have been so mad if Karena married Larkin and Carter was left all alone although it would have served him right from messing around with so many woman.
